This custom home is located 10 minutes from downtown Durango and boasts incredible La Plata Mountain views. The 2,300 square foot project on 5 acres was completed in 2020 and has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a workout room. Some of the challenges we faced included rising costs of lumber and other materials as well as supply chain issues in the midst of the global pandemic. Despite this, the result is a beautiful home that was completed in 7 months with an open floor plan and 15-foot sliding glass door leading to the spacious yard to maximize the best indoor/outdoor living that Durango has to offer. Hemlock tongue-and-groove wood ceilings and modern flat panel kitchen cabinets bring natural elements to this otherwise modernist home. The owners wanted to emphasize their gorgeous views by incorporating large windows and tall ceilings, especially in the living room. At its highest, the ceilings are 18 feet high and include clerestory windows to bring in natural light throughout the day. This, combined with the strategic orientation of the building, creates natural heating throughout the winter for a very efficient and comfortable home.
